Caring for the Sick

During a recent Women’s Luncheon in honor of the homeless women in our city, I met Brenda: She is 71 years old and is Homeless. During her story of how she came to Jesus many years ago, she also shared that she has cancer.

I am a Woman of Faith, I believe the scriptures regarding physical Healing, (see my Nina Tidwell YouTube videos regarding sound biblical teachings on the subject of physical Healing) and that sickness and disease is not from God.

There are many verses in the Word of God that confirm this, including: Acts 10:38, How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with Power, who went about doing Good and Healing All that are oppressed of the devil.
Based on this verse alone, we see that God gave Jesus Power and Authority to Heal ALL sick. We also see that the Lord plainly states that sickness is from the devil, and Not from God. We see that Satan in the oppressor and Jesus is the Healer! (Also see Isaiah 53:4,5, Matthew 8:17 and 1 Peter 2:24, and also Luke 10:19.) We also see in 1 John 3:8, For this purpose the Son of God was made manifest that He might Destroy the works of the devil.

Jesus shows us in Matthew 25:31-46, how he will know His people, by their Love and Compassion; the fruit of their Faith (after receiving Grace) which is Love in demonstration, He says:

31 “But when the Son of Man[d] comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. 32 All the nations[e] will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left.

3“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

After meeting Brenda, the Lord enlightened me and reminded me of His very words: “I was sick and you Cared for Me…” He also reminded me of Mother Teresa, a Woman of God who knew Jesus, and had the Holy Spirit and for 68 years was moved with Great Compassion for the sick dying. Her Legacy continues to this day, inspiring many to obey the words of Jesus, and imitate His Compassion for humanity. (I encourage you to watch the film: The Letters, which allows us to see her personal journey with Jesus and His call on her life to obey His words and commandment to Love.)

With that said, we are ready to open the doors of Tabitha’s House, for the Homeless Women in our city, including Brenda, providing the Love and care she needs, along with nutritious meals, a warm bed and shower.

What do the scriptures say, “Do to others as You would have the do to YOU.” Would we not also want someone there for us? What if we were in Brenda’s situation, would we want someone there for us; someone to show Love and Compassion toward us? Yes.

Find the sick, the suffering and the lonely right there where You are-I have come to realize more and more that the greatest disease and the greatest suffering, is to be unwanted, unloved, uncared for, to be shunned by everybody, to be just nobody.”
–Mother Teresa
